Pictures For Digipack

I have Taken pictures of myself today playing my guitar. I choose to use my guitar as the front page because it suits the typeof music and genre of the band because my guitar is a epiphone sg.
While taking the photos i found it hard to get the right angle while keeping my hand on my guitar so that so the image would look like i was playing the guitar. I also found it hard to get the lighting right so i hope that the pictures come out well and with a good composition.

Questionnaire what do the audience of Framing Hanley expect.

To help my decisions for my music video I have created a questionnaire for the age range and the audiences of my band Framing Hanley and asked them questions such as what would you aspect from there music video's what would you expect from a album cover and advertisement poster's.

During in this questionaire I found out that the audience expect the album cover to be related to the name of the album. Also the video to have the band playing the song as well as a story in between them playing (I feel this will be hard to recreate because I cannot have the band in my video i think i can get round this by just having a story video.) My questionaire also got the answers that the band should be dressed in a grebby fashion such as skinny jeans, dark clothing and such. Also for the video to have meaning but be fun. Also that the advertisement usually have the band in the pictures however the image to be dark and cool.

I am going to take all this information and get this to help me create all my album cover, advertisement and the music video.

An analysis of what expectations an audience ?

The genre of this band is Alternative Rock. The codes and conventions of alternative rock is such things as clothes which the artists wear such as skinny jeans is mostly featured in the video's also tops would probably contain leather jackets. The artists would mostly wear such brands as DC's, Etnies, Converse and DVS. Such as the band You Me At Six.

If I was to
find while watching a alternative rock video I would mostly expect to find a performance based video such as The All American Rejects video The Wind Blows is a performance video's however it also has a story in the video as well. In most alternative rock video's it is performance but with a story. The pictures show the parts of the video where the band performs then the parts where the lead singer is involved in the story line.

I would say in most alternative rock videos the band is in the video a lot. Also love and leaving and sexual scenes are shown and featured in alternative rock video's a lot such as Jimmy Eat World - The Middle this shows a performance video with sexual connotations.

Framing Hanley - Lollipop

My choose for the song for this project Framing Hanley - Lollipop because i really believe that I can create a really interesting and good video to this song.

Framing Hanley is a rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, USA. They are a alternative rock band. The band was first formed in 2005 were they posted demos of there songs on there Myspace page. They are best known for their song "Hear Me Now" and their cover of "Lollipop", originally by Lil Wayne. The members of the group are Kenneth Nixon, Ryan Belcher, Brandon Wootten, Luke McDuffee and Chris Vest. They use to have another member Tim Huskinson.

The band was known as Embers Fade. Nixon stated that "Our drummer's fiancé, Ashley Hanley, passed away in October of 2006. She was a best friend of the rest of the band, and we wanted to do something to somewhat honor her. She used to take pictures for our band, hence 'framing'. Naming our band Framing Hanley... that means so much to us."

The All American Rejects - I Wanna

Genre Characteristics?
In this genre which is rock the video's are mostly performance based and this video does not displease at all they have a story to this video plus sections of the band performing the song.

The relationship between music and visual?
There is a slight relationship between the lyrics and the video because he wants to get his ex girlfriend back. However there is parts of the video whcih don't go mainly the parts which have him singing to the camera also the fact that there is a big party at a house.

Are there any close-ups of the artist star motif?
There are several images of the bands logo through out the video which includes a section where the lead singer does not have a top on and the logo is on his chest. Also there are lots of images of the band through out this video because the are focused in the video.

Is there any references to the notion of looking?
This is also a performance video which has flots of different sections of the band playing the song which means the band is actualy singing into the camera so yes.

Are there any intertextual references?
There are lots of different music video's which contain a house party so this is quite a common idea for music video's however there is sections with mobile phones showing the story which i have not seen before.

The All American Rejects - I Wanna

Genra Characteristics?
I this genre which is rock quite alot of the songs will consist of performnce based video's however in this video there is also a story based with a perfromance based video.

The Relationship between music and visual?
The music video links very well with the video the song is about the wanting of a partner. Then on the video you see to people obviously wanting to see each other then at the end of the video they are with each other. It is a very happy video. So the music and the video do link very well.

Are there close-ups of the artist star image motif?
There are certain images at the start of the video is a image of the symbol for the band then through out the music video there is lots of images of and clips of the band performing the song.

Is there any references to the notion of looking?
There is quite alot of scenes through out the whole video where the band look at the camera mainly because it is a perfromance video which means the lead singer is really most of the time singing to the camera.

Are there any intertextual references?
There is no references that automatically jump out at me however there is lots of television programs in which sexual scenes are shown which i suppose could link to this video.

You Me At Six - Save It For The Bedroom.

Genre Characteristics?
The genre of this band is rock music in most of there video's and in other video's for rock are mostly performance and story based.

What is the relationship between music and visuals?
In this video the video is not linked to the song at all because the video is based upon a chat show. Also have clips of them sing and playing the song which is the parts of performanced based video. The lyrics are about sexual natures however the video is not.

Are there close-ups of the artist star image motifs?
There are quite a few close ups to the bands face it is mainly because the band are featured in the video as the characters in the show. Also there are clips of the band playing the song on there instruments.

Is there any references to the notion of looking?
There are parts of the video where the lead singer looks at the camera towards the audience to sing to them. He does this numourus of times through out the video.

Are there any intertextual references?
There are numourus refernces due to the talk show story towards Jeremy Kyle and other such day time talk shows.

The Gadget Show

On this show Suzi and Jason where asked to make a music for two performing artists Suzi for Fightstar and Jason for Har Mar Superstar Suzi created a performce however Jason created a story music video. Watching this showed me an in sight into how music video's are made which will help me when i create mine.

Suzi had a unlimited budget and Jason had a low limited budget. Jason's music video has given me the perspective of that you can make a really good music video while not using loadsof money and great top editing because Jason used final cut.

Suzi's video was great and there was nothing wrong with it however Jason's video had more character to his video. This will defently will give me a better idea when i come to make my music video.
